Just as I suspected

Today was the day Sophie went to the little public school down the street -- (really, I think that would be a great name for it) for her testing to see if she is ready to go to Kindergarten. She is younger than the other kids and missed the cut off date by a few weeks, so she had to be tested to see if she could get in this year or if she had to wait another year. She doesn't normally take such big strides like you see in the picture, but she was hopping and skipping and that's just the way she landed. She was so excited. I was excited that Andi felt well enough to not only go, but to walk in without being helped. Once inside, she was all seriousness as she waited for her turn.

We had to wait in the hall while she did the actual testing, so Andi and Keegan discussed school buses and then he and I went to check one out. He liked looking at the inside, but balked at actually sitting on the seat. I think he was afraid it would take off with him.

We finally went in to get Sophie's test results. The test had 69 questions and Sophie got 66 correct. Another part of the test was getting 8 letters right in one minute and Sophie got 47. There may be one last thing she has to do, which is have a personal chat with the principal to make sure she's social enough to attend. Knowing her as I do, I think it's safe to say.... Welcome to Kindergarten, Sos! I'd be lying if I said I was thrilled with the thought of her going to kindergarten. I was barely adjusting to her going 1/2 a day when WHAM, our county went to all day kindergarten! I was definitely not ready for that!

I've had Sophie around her entire life and to suddenly have her gone all day is certainly going to take some adjustment. I'm very happy for her though because she is SO excited to be going to school. And I'm thinking I'll be enjoying her company every once in a while as we eat school meals together and I meet all her little friends.

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to getting in some alone time with Keegan. As he tells it, "I'm Mamaw's pal." Indeed he is.
