Hard to imagine - but
it's really kind of hard to eat out every night. It gets to be a chore almost. However, we met the challenge and the boys were happy campers with very full bellies.
I started off the day by going to wake up my dad to see if he wanted to go to Wesley's ballgame with us. I could see what I thought was a Kleenex sorta tucked under the side of his face with a spot of blood on it. "Oh," I thought, "he must have had a nose bleed."
Not quite. When I woke him and he rolled over, what appeared to be a Kleenex with a spot of blood on it was actually a huge wad of paper towels soaked in blood. He had fallen down the steps that lead into Billski's living room during the night and gashed his eyebrow wide open by falling right onto the corner of the fishtank stand. His eye was swollen shut and bruised and of course he had the manly mind set of just driving home.
Why are guys like that? Anyway, I couldn't talk him into going to the hospital at that point, but he did agree to just stay there and wait for me to get back. He wouldn't even let me put ice on it.
Wesley's team finished the season with a win and he scored again. After we got back home, there was a lot more discussion before daddy finally agreed to go to the hospital. There the first thing they did was ice it and eventually got around to gluing it shut. And telling him he couldn't drive till tomorrow. So he is here again tonight.
Andi and Jacob came over this afternoon and if anyone had walked in, I'm sure they would have thought the house was filled with carbon monoxide. Jacob and I were asleep on one couch. Him sitting up and me laying with my leg propped up. Sophie and Pappaw were sleeping in beds and Keegan and Andi slept in the recliner. Wes and Ryan passed the afternoon playing Big Guy's video game. They will be sorry to see that thing go home -- but I won't.
So after scrubbing the blood stains out of the carpet using peroxide and table salt, washing the bloody handprints off the door frames and wall, we just basically slugged the day away, went out to dinner and now we are going to watch a movie before we go to sleep.
Wesley brought his new glasses to me today - broken into two pieces. Not sure exactly what happened, but I'm done with the "really flexible" kid glasses. I think we will have better luck with regular glasses.
Jacob and Carly called this afternoon and they were standing in the ocean. Their day was a lot more exciting that ours was. They'll be home tomorrow and we are all glad to be together again.
