God's protective hand

was once again looking out for our family today. After church, Andi and I were taking Wes, Ryan and Sophie swimming. I called Zac to see if he could join us and when he answered the phone, his voice was very shaky. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that his girlfriend, Andie had just been hit by a car.

Not a car she was in was hit but SHE was hit by a car. He said she was unlocking the truck to get in and a car topped over the hill and hit her as she stood by the truck. It slammed her into the mirror, bending it all the way backward against the truck and drug her a little bit down the street.

Zac was getting dressed for work when he heard her screaming in the street. He looked out just as 2 men started to get out of the car and he took off down the stairs and out into the street -- in his underwear. He quickly checked on Andie and gathered what had happened, then reached in and took out the man's car keys and grabbed the truck keys so there was no way for the man to leave.

Except on foot........which the passenger did and Zac took off chasing him 4 blocks - through the snow and ice covered ground. The man ran into a halfway house and Zac was able to give the police a very accurate description so the police had no problem finding him. The driver was arrested for drunk driving.

Thankfully, the car, a large Cadillac had slammed into Andie's prosthetic leg. She lost her leg to cancer as a child. She was banged up and scared, but OK. X-rays at the hospital later confirmed her arm was not broken. They put it in a sling and gave her some pain meds, which I'm sure she will be glad to have for the next several days.

Thanking God today for sparing Andie from any severe injuries and for taking care of Zac in his heroic effort to help Andie.
