Which came first?
That seems to be part of the mystery of whatever it is that is wrong with Andi. Did she pass out and hit her head because of pain and nausea or did pain and nausea come because she passed out and hit her head? We do know she has had a severe headache since Friday, April 22nd and was nauseated to the point she was leaving school when she passed out.
I don't suppose that part will ever be figured out. This morning Andi's headache had increased from a 5 (on the scale of 1 -10) to a 9. She was vomiting, purely from the pain. In the hospital the doctor had said a 10 would only be if your arm was amputated and laying across the room and you were laying there writhing in pain, so a 9 was a pretty significant headache.
Andi had already told me she was going to call the chiropractor on Monday and see if she could get in. Well, small town living being what it is, I wrote a note to the chiropractor, told him what was going on and left it on his door with my phone number. He called about 45 minutes later and shortly after that, Andi looked like this.
In an effort to rid herself of the headache she was giving acupuncture a try. However, at the exact time she was getting this done, many people across the country were praying for her in their Sunday morning services. I know we were at my church. Many of us had just gathered around the alter to pray for her and ask God to relieve her pain. I went back to my seat and there was a message from Jacob with this picture.
So which made her feel better? Prayers or acupuncture? I don't know nor do I care. I do know that her headache is back down to a 4 and God gave the chiropractor the intelligence and compassion to help her out on a Sunday morning. And for that I am grateful.
