If only this were Halloween costumes

Last night, right as I was beginning to start a Ladies Devotion at church, when the phone rang. It was like a repeat of Saturday.

Carly screaming, "Mom, there's a LOT of blood. Come home NOW."

At this point, you may be wondering if I'm ever leaving home again. The answer would be no.

At least not without every child who still lives at home and every descendant of mine who is in my care.

As I said, I was 20 minutes away from home at the least, so I called Sherie, and she was at my house within about 3. In her words, "Wesley was bleeding like a stuck pig."

Sherie bandaged him, cleaned up the blood and when I got home I took him to our favorite hometown spot, the St. Mary's ER. Where we had the same doctor Carly had seen 2 nights before. It was a good ER night, if such a thing exists. We had our favorite doctor and our two favorite nurses.

Come to think of it, what does it say about your family if you've had enough ER visits over the years to have favorites on the staff? Not sure - I'll think about that later.

As I've mentioned before, Wesley suffers from many phobias -- and right at the top of that list would be needles. Faced with the prospect of a shot in his head, a 60 pound boy can turn into a raging tiger.

It took every bit of strength the four of us had to wrestle him onto the table and hold him down while he had 4 shots in his head and then 2 staples. The doctor said the spot where he hit is the thinnest of the skull and the most easily fractured, so a CT followed, but it was OK.

As for Carly, her finger is still bleeding and she is going to see the orthopedic doctor Thursday. Her finger is so gross looking.

Bill is supposed to take the kids to Holiday World Saturday for one last time this summer. I'm guessing Wesley will have a very legitimate excuse to not ride anything that will jerk him around -- and that will be fine with him.
