Taste Testing -- Part One

On a hot and muggy Indiana evening, these brave souls ventured out to taste test a variety of desserts. Armed with their critique sheets, they made their way through 2 cheesecakes, 3 chocolate cakes, a carrot cake, brownie cheesecake, 5 types of cookies and three ice cream toppings, topping it off with a fruit smoothie. Jacob and Carly were earning their keep as they served sample after sample.

After sitting and reviewing their critiques, one thing is blazingly clear. People are different. The same cake that 2 people said was dry, 2 others commented on the moistness. On cookies, it was too few or too many raisins. Too chocolaty or not chocolaty enough. Love coconut or coconut scares people away -- really. I read that. Coconut scares people away.

The favorite cake was one made with sauerkraut in it - but nobody knew that until they had eaten it. Really, though, the only thing that everyone agreed on was to sell BIG cookies as opposed to small ones.

It's a long time till opening and I'm only through the C's on my cookie recipes, so I hope to see these guys again soon.
