Hi to Maggie
I noticed a new follower of my blog a few days ago. Maggie, Wesley's biological mother was listed on my sidebar. So this post is just an update for Maggie on how Wesley is doing.
Wesley stumbles out of bed in the morning and the very first thing he wants to do is go get the newspaper. Woe to the person who tries to get it before him. Not sure why he loves to do that, but he is also our official mailman. He takes the mail out and brings the mail in.
He loves to play with Atticus, our Australian shepherd. He is the ultimate exercise toy for the dog, since he runs Atticus around the yard until they are both about to drop. He is very allergic to cats and even being around them for an hour makes his eyes practically swell shut.
He is small for his age - he weighs 63 pounds now and is 4' 6" tall. His hair is as wild as ever. Last time he got it cut, he jerked, resulting in a very short haircut and it actually looks better than usual, so I think it will be kept shorter from now on.
He loves playing with Sophie and Keegan and they keep him busy, swinging them, pulling them around the block in their wagon and reading to them. He is going to be a good daddy someday. When he grows up he wants to be a go-cart racer, which is funny, since he has only ever ridden in a go-cart once. It must have really impacted him. Right now he loves to ride his bike, so maybe he's in training.
Wes is very smart, but quite distracted while doing his school work. What should take him 10 minutes will take 45, because he has to stop and run around for a bit. He has started his treatment at the orthodontist and I think it will be years before his teeth are straight. A lot of his teeth trouble are due to him sucking his thumb.
He goes to a day camp in the summer that is 2 days a week and he really enjoys that. I think he would go swimming every day if he could and this year has finally started going down the slides at the pool. He loves all things Legos, Bakugans and Power Rangers. He is a huge Jeff Gordon fan and watches the Nascar races on weekends.
Wesley is the ultimate pack rat. It's always a frightening sight when we make him clean out his nest --what some people would call their bed. He stuffs everything up there - it's probably a good thing he has the top bunk. If I could actually see it everyday, it would probably have to be cleaned a lot more often and he doesn't like cleaning it.
His favorite animal is a chicken - no idea why, although he knows a lot about all kinds of animals from watching Animal Planet. He laughs like an idiot at America's Funniest Videos and that is his absolute favorite show. His sense of humor is really developing and he is becoming quite a ham. He is a joy about 99% of the time.
He loves going to church and learning about God. He is going to be baptized in a few weeks. If you give me your contact information, I'll let you know when, so you can come see it. We will be having a family dinner afterwards and you are welcome to come to that as well.
I thank God every day that he is part of our family and I thank you for allowing that to happen. He is well loved.
