It's been a good day at the ol' Comfy Couch Academy.

My friend, Teresa, challenged me to a Word Twist game. 10 rounds of unscrambling words as fast as you can for points. I've never played 10 rounds of Word Twist early in the morning, but today I did. And boy am I glad. I was neck and neck till the last round when I needed 39 points to win. Time was clicking quicker than normal it seemed and I was not getting the much needed bonus word worth the 25 points that would put me over the top. It was obvious I was not going to win.

Till my spelling help arrived. In the form of Jacob. Jacob, the family's notorious "bad" speller has really been getting it lately. I had read that sometimes when boys get about the age of 12, spelling just starts to click for them if it hadn't by then. He will be 12 next month. And this morning he leaned over my shoulder, looked at the screen and calmly said "polish."

Polish -- the 25 point bonus word. I won the game - not by myself, but with Jacob's help. And as I type this, I have little tears threatening to puddle over - not from this momentary victory, but from Jacob's much bigger victory .
