My own little court jester

I was doing some placement tests with the kids yesterday on line and Jacob started a Science/Social studies test at the 6th grade level and kept on answering questions till the test completed and this message came up:

Starting Date : 1/22/2009
Began Diagnostic Test : Level Six
Last PACE Tested :1085
Diagnostic Details
Successfully attempted and passed diagnostic for Level 6.
Successfully attempted and passed diagnostic for Level 7.
Successfully attempted and passed diagnostic for Level 8.
All sections passed with flying colors.

Of course there are still levels 9 - 12 to be done. While I'm figuring out what to order him he takes off, only to return a few moments later, humming the graduation song and giving his speech about having graduated with flying colors. He was "dressed for success" and declaring himself ready to go out and face the world.

Get his driver's license. Get a job. Kiss a girl. Go to an R movie. Check out a bar. Buy a round of milk for all his friends.

He picks up the newspaper and promptly starts reading it --- while holding the paper upside down. Then he starts griping that his feet hurt from wearing his dad's shoes and he needs a foot massage. So he plopped his dog slobber soaked socks into my lap.

Game over. Back to reality and all the school work that still awaits him. Which included Science at the 6th grade level. I explained that just because he could read and comprehend the tests well enough to pass, didn't mean he knew all there was to learn in those 3 years. He just sat there, shaking his head sadly and muttering "flying colors, flying colors" over and over.
