The green eyed monster
I've been repenting of my envy ever since I watched Vicki's kids last week. No, not because I want more kids (I decided I didn't) but because of her washer and dryer. I love it. I want it.
I was doing some laundry for her and as I put a load of towels into her dryer my first thought was that I was done for the day because it would take forever for them to dry. There were at least 12 towels in this load and I was seriously thinking whoever washed them altogether was crazy.
I hit the start button and the timer automatically came on --- for 34 minutes. I actually laughed out loud -- all alone in the laundry room - scoffing at the idea of this load being dry in 34 minutes. However, since I had no idea how to program the dryer for longer, I resigned myself to just restarting it 3 or 4 times.
Wrong. That load was totally dry in 34 minutes.
I almost hesitate to write this post because if Billski reads it, he will offer to buy me a new washer and dryer and I don't know if I'm strong enough to resist. There's really nothing wrong with mine. Well, the washer sometimes doesn't spin and I have to do it again, but that's no big deal. AND there is a knob missing, but Zac made one out of a washer and a screw. So I suppose I could find several reasons why I "need" a new set.
I could even spend hours figuring up the savings of electricity and water. I'm sure it would be such a savings that we could eat out every day of the week. PLUS, I wouldn't have to try and remember to put in laundry softener. Now that I think about it, I'm positive I could come up with a dozen reasons why I should get them. In my mind, I've even planned on building a platform for them to sit on so that I don't have to bend to get the clothes out in my old age, for surely this set would last for all eternity. And the washer is a front loader and everyone knows a front loader is the best.
Not to mention the fact that I think Sophie and Keegan would be entertained for hours just sitting there peacefully watching laundry tumble around in water.
But that price tag stops me dead in my tracks. $2,000 for the Duet washer and dryer at Lowe's. It's enough to make that green eyed monster go back into hiding........almost.
If you have a set and you love it -- don't tell me about it. If you've heard only horrible things about it, let me know. I need some help taming the monster.
