Roller Derby Debut

Tonight Andi made her Roller Derby Debut in front of a crowd packed with about 60 of our friends. She got the biggest cheers of the evening and we all had a blast watching her skate - fall - skate - fall and always get up again for some more. Me, I would have stayed down and let everyone go around me. Well, that's not true - I wouldn't have been out there in the first place.

It was pretty obvious it was going to be an interesting evening when the hand stamp at the entrance was a skull and crossbones.
The intermission half time was a troupe of belly dancers and the crowd was as interesting to watch as the skaters.

I have no idea if Andi's team was really good or the other team was really bad, but our team won by about 50 points.

How in the world Keegan could sleep over the loud music is a mystery to me, but he did. Sophie went to hang out with Andi's dad for the evening and Keegan had plenty of people willing to snuggle with him.

My goodness, that's just insane!

I can't believe she does that voluntarily!

She looks so intense and focused. Seriously I had no idea there was such a thing as a real roller derby.

Man... I can't believe I forgot all about the Derby. I am soo sad. :( I even teased my friend at work cuz she wasn't on the news the other morning when Jason Claspell had them out there doing their thing. *sigh* I feel like such a bad friend that I didn't come out to support Andi. Poooooo

Go Andi!! I'm curious. How many other sane mothers of two are in her league? Or is it all Harley-ridin' singles with tattoos?

I'm impressed, as I'm a SLOW skater....

slow
skater.

ps. My son fell asleep at a monster truck rally when he was 4. If you've ever been unfortunate enough to go to one...you'll know how that's insane!

Andi rocked it! I loved when some girl sat on her!! And when she caused a pile up on the turn. Great times!!! Can't wait to go again...

That looks crazy! I would love to see it in person. I doubt they would go on tour to South Dakota though. :)

Go Andi!
