Seems I may have totally underestimated

how much Sosie would miss Jacob. He's her best buddy. It's as if she can't comprehend that he is not here. She has wandered around all morning just yelling his name over and over. Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (big breath) Cuuuuuuuuuub. (big breath) Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (big breath) Cuuuuuuuuuub. Then, as if he couldn't hear her, repeat louder. And louder. And louder.

I kept telling her he went bye-bye and she would just go to the back door, knock on it and continue the calling of his name.

I began to fearing she would lose her voice (or perhaps I was hoping secretly that she would - can't be sure at this point). Anyway, I called Jacob so that they could talk. Sophie's phone conversations usually consist of someone talking to her while she licks the phone. Not this time.

Jacob said, "Hi Sosie." and she replied,

"JaaaaaaaaCub." and she smiled.

Then he talked for a few seconds and said, "I love you." and she told him, "Lub you." Just as clear as that -- "Lub you."

After a few more seconds of listening intently to what he had to say, he said, "Bye, bye Sos."

And she told him bye-bye right back.

And gave him two - not one, but two, audible kisses into the right hole of the phone so he could hear them.

And they hung up and all was well with her world.

For a minute. Then she started going room to room, yelling, "Jaaaaaaaaaaa (big breath) Cuuuuuuuuub."

It's gonna be a long vacation for Sosie.
