The Children's Museum
If you've never been to a children's museum, they are all pretty standard. There always seem to be exhibits where you can make water dams and fountains, experiment with electricity, sound and magnets, and make music. We did it all today - for hours. There was also the favored dinosaur digging ground along with an exhibit of machinery, such as pulleys that you could use to lift yourself up. I didn't try it myself :) Rotator cuff and all that - why risk injury?
There was a traveling exhibit on people with disabilities and that was very interesting for them to be able to experience a bit of what others have to live with on a daily basis. That exhibit probably generated the most discussion later in the day.
We left for lunch at Mellow Mushroom, a really funky (could you guess that) pizza joint. After we ate, we went back for more of the museum. When we had finally had enough, we wandered around and checked out some of the tourist traps shops and enjoyed some ice cream for the birthday girl and a carousel ride.
There are some interesting things in Chattanooga - Jacob's favorite were the bronze shoe "prints" in the sidewalks which showed different dance steps. Jacob says he will always remember the day he danced with his momma and did the Mamba, the Waltz and the Tango on the sidewalks of Chattanooga.
Bill then took the boys and walked across the longest pedestrian bridge in the country, while Carly and I drove to the other end to pick them up. They enjoyed the walk and I enjoyed not walking. Carly was pooped and who am I to make her walk any more on her birthday than she wanted to?
The kids are swimming now with their dad and then I think they will be content to just hang out. They have all enjoyed hanging out with Billski today. They had a lot of fun. I'm not sure yet, but I think Wesley is breaking out with 5th's Disease.
