I kid you not
Here's how it went down. When Sophie woke up from her nap Wednesday, she was ravenous. I credit the current round of Prednisone she is on for the unbelievable increase in her appetite. And her croup can be blamed for the hoarseness of her voice in the video.
Andi has taught Sophie the sign language sign for more. And Sophie knows when and how to say it. She even says the word "more" when she's hungry. When she woke up, she was standing in her bed, saying, "More, more, more" all the while using the correct sign.
I take her to feed her and she gave me the "more" sign after every bite. Through a piece of cheese, a banana, a piece of french toast and some scrambled egg. The girl was hungry!
I was so impressed, I thought to myself -- I should call Andi to tell her this was the smartest idea she ever had. Then I thought, "Why bother her at work? I'll just make a movie of this brilliance that my first grandchild has displayed."
So I get out my movie camera and aim it at Sophie. What followed was 90 seconds or so of the most obstinate behavior ever witnessed by a living soul. If she were a teenager, she would have been grounded. Andi has edited it down, but you get the idea of how "cooperative" she was being for me. All the while, I'm standing there actually doing the sign for "more" for her. I'm sure she was amused. The third time she throws her head back, she actually says, "Oh, no." Sorry for the poor quality - I have to quit laughing by the microphone.
Anyway - here's Sophie.
