Sophie's Miracle
Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Sunday at church we had prayer for Sophie again. The pastor placed his hands over Sophie's ears and prayed that God would open her ears and another miracle happen in her life. Her birth is already a testament to the power of prayer. There have been many people praying for Sophie's hearing.
In the afternoon when Wesley knelt down behind Sophie and said her name and she turned her head around to him. Andi and I just stared at each other like it must be a fluke. So I held her on my lap and Andi called her name and Sophie looked toward her. We had Jacob do it too - with the same results. Then we called her daddy - Big Guy - away from the football game and I had him kneel down behind her and he just called her name and she almost got whiplash turning her head to him.
Could she hear before yesterday? We will never know. The only sound she had ever reacted too was the loud blowing of a whistle about 2 feet from her head. She made just the very slightest flinch. She had never made any movement at all when people or the doctor would clap their hands right beside her ears - not even blink. She never flinched when you banged pot lids by her ears - not even blink. But we know she had a startle reflex because if you shook the seat she was in, she would jump, etc. The speech therapist thought there was a problem. Her doctor thought there was a problem. We thought there was a problem.
Could she hear before yesterday? We will never know. Can Sophie hear today? Absolutely!!!!!!!!! Praise God!
