Mother's Day - Saturday

Probably not every woman would be excited to get a cordless circular saw for Mother's Day, but I was. That and a big batch of Bill's delicious chocolate chip cookies started my weekend off right on Saturday morning. Then Zac's and his girlfriend, Andie came by and we played Clue with Jacob for a bit. They also worked puzzles with the other kids. Plus, he brought me some ribs that had been smoked and bar-be-qued. Gotta love that. When they left, I was still licking my fingers and he was clutching a big bag of cookies. We appreciate good food around here.

Early this morning I went with Andi and Big Guy to buy material for making Sophie's crib bedding. The price of pretty crib bedding is just crazy/stupid/insane, so Nana is going to be making theirs. No doubt it will be as beautiful as anything they would have bought. I may make the curtains, unless somebody jumps up to volunteer and save my sanity....or what's left of it.

They have decided against their original "Guess How Much I Love You" theme and are just decorating it to their taste. Jacob really surprised Andi and me with his input. I thought it was very sweet - all the interest he was showing in how the nursery would look. Andi is not a "material" girl (in many ways - but literally here) and she was just wanting to be done. The material is pictured here and the walls will be painted green at the bottom, with a white chair rail and the top part is till in discussion. I'l looking into trying to figure out how to do a cool wall treatment I saw on Debbie Travis so I can show Andi a picture of it.

The kids and I watched Yours, Mine and Ours together in the afternoon. It is one messy movie, food fights, paint fights, etc. They loved it. Sometimes watching them watch a movie is better than the movie. This was one of those times.
It's exciting to think that next year Andi will be celebrating her first Mother's Day with Sophie in her arms. I bought her a little Mother's Day gift. Actually, I bought it for myself, but she saw it and loved it, so I will just have to find me another one. She will be surprised when she opens this today. Ahh, the sacrafices I make - having to shop more for one of my favorite things. This diaper bag has a little picture frame hanging on it and the heart says Sophia. I also gave away as a gift the other diaper bag I ordered from Randi, so as of now, I have none.

I would appreciate prayers for Patricia who is having surgery Monday. She has privately wanted to join the new momma club for a long time and has recently begun sharing that desire with others. On Friday she wrote about her appointment with her fertility specialist, "ironic, isn’t it, i went in wondering if i was pregnant and came out scheduled for surgery." I pray for her every day to be able to welcome her own baby into the world and I know she would appreciate your prayers too.
