Punishment should not be this much fun

Yesterday after getting the school room morphed back into a play room there were no signs of it's previous life as a school room - except for the walls. I had left our posters, maps, charts, flag, bulletin boards, etc. hanging. They weren't taking up any floor space and we use those items daily during school weeks. The posters were not just nailed into the wall but along the tops and bottom of the posters were strips of screen bead nailed along them to prevent accidental tearing. You would really have to work at it to get these posters down...........or kung fu kick them.

Which is what the above pictured prisioners did. Like having the entire 17 X 14 foot of floor space wasn't enough, they decided they wanted to kick at the walls and what better walls than the one with posters all along it.

So they are pulling weeds this morning. Lots of weeds. The flower bed they are pulling weeds out of used to be beautiful. It was so nice to sit out in the back yard - but then Jacob wanted a garden spot. Being the good homeschool mom, I sacraficed my best flower bed so that he could have a wonderful sunny garden. Do you see any vegetables growing? Me neither. But the garden project was a couple of years ago and since then it has just sat, growing weeds and turning into an eyesore. Not next year. Next year I think they are all old enough to actually keep a garden. So we will try it again. But as for today, they are out there pulling weeds earning the money to replace the posters.

They have been out there for awhile and I hear them laughing and giggling. Talking to the weeds, "hey, you want a piece of me, well meet Mr. Hand" - "you're time on earth is done." I've seen them running past the window, Carly first, Jacob in hot pursuit with a handful of weeds, dirt dropping off as he runs. Then in a few seconds, the reverse - Jacob first, Carly chasing.

I know I have tried to instill in them that work doesn't have to be drudgery, but can be fun - but come one......this isn't work, it's punishment.
