Vacay at Mamawland - Day One
Andi and Big Guy left this morning for a long awaited vacation to Mexico. Long awaited as in when they got married, they said they were going for their 10 year anniversary. That is coming up in a few weeks. I got up at 3:40 to take them to the airport for a plane that was supposed to depart at 6. They finally got off the ground about 11:30, and I try to not think of all the valuable hours of sleep time that were in between those hours. Or the fact that I slept in the car in the Donut Bank parking lot while waiting for Andi's dad to bring the kids to me this morning. Anyhow, we started off our vacation together at the Donut Bank. That always gets the day off to a good start - no matter how early your day started.
They left me with the kids and Big Guy's mom with the dog. Man, I lucked out here. Today, we went to the Blues Festival in Henderson and had a picnic, listened to some music, danced a bit (or a lot), jumped in the bounce houses -- the kids, not me and had a wonderful time.
Kelli convinced the kids they should take a nap so we could continue our day by going swimming. We told them if they would just rest through 3 songs, then we would leave. About 1 song later, all was quiet on the Pooh blanket and they snoozed for a bit.
Afterwards, we went swimming at Gwen's Cement Pond for a bit before heading home for dinner and then BNI and GNI. That would be Boys Night IN and Girls Night IN for the uninformed. Wesley and Keegan are off playing a video game and Sophie and Carly are polishing nails, before fixing popcorn to eat while watching a movie.
All in all, a perfect day.
