What must they be going through?

The family of Matthew Bias - the father who killed Annaliese this week. As I sat at the service yesterday it was pretty obvious who they were. They took up one pew in the church, all staring straight ahead and never making eye contact with anyone. Never approaching Barb, the mother whose daughter had been murdered by their loved one.

And my heart was breaking for them as well. Obviously this man was not in his right mind, but I'm sure they loved him. He was their son, their brother, their uncle. And surely they were grieving for Annalise, their granddaughter, their niece, their cousin. Yet it was hard for them to even be able to do that publicly.

They have to reconcile the man they loved with the monster who did such a horrendous thing. and that certainly can't be easy. How difficult it must be for them to even accept condolences, under these circumstances.

So I find myself praying for the Bias family and not just Barb. I'm sure Barb would approve of this prayer. At the graveyard yesterday as they all stood around, yet back from the crowd, Barb took a pink flower for each of them out of Annaliese's grave flowers and presented it to them ~~ with the love of God shining through her.
