The Storyteller

When Sophie spends the night with me, we have a ritual that never waivers. I will give her the details and she will tell me stories she makes up. She will tell the story and keep adding to it until she will say, "Mamaw?" and if I don't answer, then she will end the story and go to sleep. Usually, I'm still awake, but if the story has gone on long enough, I won't answer and she will just "snoogle" up, kiss me and go to sleep.

Last night though, she did stray from her regular routine. After just a bit of a story about a little girl who found some talking flowers, she said, "Mamaw, my voice is all ranned out and I have to be quiet now so that it can fill back up."

With that, we said our good nights and off to dreamland she went.
