Gatlinburg Day One
Here is the scenic view I awoke to this morning. Nice, isn't it? Tranquil. Peaceful. Calm. Serene. And did I mention peaceful? And then.............(key scary music)
THEY WOKE UP! From there the day took a decidedly different turn than peaceful. At least for Billski. He took Carly, Joy, Seth and Jacob to Ober Gatlinburg to ride the tram car to the top of the mountain and do the Alpine Slide. They bought an all day pass and rode the 1800 foot slide MANY times.
This is the part that I would have puked on. The ski lift back to the top of the slide. Not happening.
Wes and Ryan didn't want to go (SURPRISE!), so they stayed with me and we took in the scenic sights at K Mart and Baskin and Robbins. Those two are funny. They were happy as clams to do that and didn't seem the least concerned with what they were missing. Of course, when I think of the scene Wesley would have caused at the chair lift, the alternative of ice cream was a very wise choice.
Bill has the kids at the pool now -- except for Wes, who declared it too cold to swim. We did drive through Gatlinburg this morning where Ryan declared it "one big gift shop" and Wesley wanted to "Get out and shop like civilized people." Which we didn't do. Civilized or not - Ryan was right and I wasn't getting in that mob.
I don't know if Wes will do much of anything this week, but a week with no school is vacation enough for him.
