A tiny bucket list of my own
There have been a few things in life I've wanted to do or own - nothing earth shattering or ground breaking....just things.
One of my wishes was to go to an IKEA store. Simple, yet it's something I've wanted to do for at least the past 10 years. Monday, I did that with two friends and it was every bit as awesome as I had imagined it would be. I had to chew gum after the first hour or so because my mouth was so dried out from hanging open. We spent about 5 hours there and I could have easily doubled that. I'm already making plans to go back -- soon. Here's a picture of Wesley staining the little table that Keegan helped me put together the other day. Below is a picture of a lamp I bought there. I liked the shape of the lamp, but not the color. It was chrome. So I spray painted it, which took care of the chrome, but I still didn't like the ugly shades. While I was visiting my mom yesterday, she and I cut out some pieces from my wallpaper border and I just put them on the shades and I think it made a world of difference.
Something that I've always wanted to secretly own was a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. Bill has offered to buy me one dozens of times and I finally agreed. Now I could kick myself for wasting so much time scraping the bowls and turning the mixers on and off because this baby is awesome. I didn't go crazy though - just got white, since it's not sitting out on my countertop or anything.
Lastly -- at least for this post -- is a trip I've always wanted to go on. The only place on earth I have any real desire to go see is Alaska. I've never wanted to be a world traveler. In fact, I don't even like traveling long distances, but just the beauty of Alaska has always intrigued me. So this summer, I'm heading to Alaska for a seven day cruise....
On a ship like this. I'm going with my mom, who has been so many times she will be the perfect tour guide. I'm very excited about this trip as you can imagine.
