Things I really like -- or think I will anyway

I ordered two of these for the kids' bathroom today from a company called Hinge-It. I think they look incredibly useful for 12 bucks. Just attach them right to the back of your bathroom door. I think I will like those.

I know I like this. It's a game we got the kids for Christmas that has probably already been played 25 times. I ordered it off of Amazon and it was rather expensive -- about 50 bucks for a board game. The single game was about 25 bucks and the expansion packs were about 15 each. Based on all the reviews, I thought we would really love it, so I just bought what is known as "The Big Box." It has the original game plus 5 of the expansion packs in it. It has been played with more than anything they got for Christmas -- or any game they have ever received.

There are castles and princesses, cities, and monks, inns and abbeys, travelers and followers, farmers and pigs, volcanoes and dragons and so much more. There's nothing evil about it - just strategy and the luck of the draw. I highly recommend this game. Depending on how many expansion packs you play with it, the game could last anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours.
And lastly --- something I absolutely LOVE and have been searching for in excess of 20 years (not kidding) is a vegetable peeler exactly like the one I bought 23 years ago in Nashville. That one is the one on the left -- old, rusty and still the peeler of choice over the many others I have bought and tried in vain.

When Teri and I were in Virginia on New Years Day, I saw a story on the news about the Park Avenue Potato Peeler. I could tell just from his demonstration that he was indeed using the potato peeler of my dream. It is absolutely incredible. The best peeler ever - bar none. I use it for potatoes, apples and anything else I might peel or need to be thinly sliced.

I told Teri I would be tracking that down and she looked at me like I was crazy. Crazed or not, I did. I searched for the story, found out the name of his daughter, tracked her down on facebook, and ordered them. 4 for 20 bucks - shipping included. And my new ones are here. And you may think it silly to blog about a peeler, but if I can do my part to make this dreaded chore easier, then I feel it is my duty as an American mom to do it. I gave one to Andi so that means I'll have enough sharp peelers to last me till I'm about 125 or so.
