A great birthday weekend
My "official" birthday is tomorrow. I'll be 49 and thankful that God has blessed me with such a good life and great friends. Yesterday, I got to spend the whole day with a bunch of them. Vicki Alvey and Teri at Chicago's - where we ate delicious pizzas for lunch and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me whether I wanted them to or not. Esther waiting for her breadsticks.
Sherie
Andi
My delicious pizza with pepperoni, bacon, sausage and beef. Meat lovers unite!
After lunch, we went to West Baden to the resort and meandered around like gawking tourists. They even allowed us to go into one of the rooms and check it out. It was a beautiful place.
Left side - top to bottom - Amy, Esther, Vicki, Teri. Right side, Sherie, Andi & KellyVicki and meAmy, lounging in the lobby dreaming of the money she would no doubt win at French Lick.Amy wasn't the only big winner - Here's a picture of Vicki and Teri right after they each won about a hundred bucks playing a two cent slot machine. Note that there are no pictures of me winning. Hard to take a picture of something that didn't happen. We had a blast throughout the day as we traveled from place to place. Each time we got in the car, we each put a dollar into the pot and when the car stopped and we got out, we would draw a name and the name drawn would win the money. I did win that pot once -- Teri won it three times throughout the day. Esther and Kelly had to go back home so they weren't able to join us for the next part, which was too bad because it was GREAT! We ended up our adventurous day eating dinner at Tell City at a great restaurant called Capers, where we listened to these two guys playing guitar and fiddle for hours. They were awesome and they sang Happy Birthday to me....again... whether I wanted them to or not. We all had wonderful appetizers, great dinner and the best bread pudding and ice cream for desert -- at which point another rousing chorus of Happy Birthday could be heard.
