Wow - that's a lot of writing. Visited Ryan today after church and then we had another family therapy session. Ryan's potential release date is Tuesday afternoon. With that in mind, I called tonight and asked how about Monday night instead?
Ryan is REALLY wanting to come home and by Monday night he will have had 51 hours of therapy sessions -- the equivalent of about 4 years worth if we had been doing one appointment per month - which is what they would schedule if I had gone a different route.
The doctor did increase Ryan's medicine after his unprovoked "light tap" during a group session the other day. He seems much calmer - but not drugged. The social worker we met with today also agreed that Ryan will do better being homeschooled, so I feel very comfortable with that decision.
The social worker we met with today said the psychiatrist notes mentioned PPD and Autism regarding his interaction with Ryan as well as Ryan's lack of interaction with others, so I suppose the earlier diagnosis by the specialists at Riley's hospital when Ryan was younger were correct.
The social worker also suggested that Ryan take a daily nap to prevent being over tired. Just like any other child, when he gets tired, he tends to act out more. So Ryan's new job will be to lay down with Keegan in the afternoon at Keegan's nap time and rest with Keegan while Keegan goes to sleep. He's been taking a nap every day during his room time at the hospital, so he's already in the habit of doing it.
That's about it for the week. Ready for the next thousand posts?
