Notta Lotta

stuff going on around here. This was our week off from school, so the kids have been playing outside a lot. We set up their tent and they camped out a few days, "living off the land." I never knew "the land" included my refrigerator, but apparently it did. Seems grasshoppers and worms weren't that appetizing after all.

I've been busy making a table to donate to a charity auction and I finished that this morning. Ryan is gone fishing with Billski, while Carly, Wesley and I have worked on cleaning the house a bit.

Jacob is laid low with a bad sinus headache and has been napping for several hours. Not to worry, I saved a bathroom each for him and Ryan to clean. I'm an equal opportunity mom like that.

My vacuum was hardly picking up anything -- and there was lots to pick up, so I took that bad boy outside and cleaned all the filters with the hose. They were disgusting.......blech. Now the vacuum works like new and the stuff it picked up was disgusting.......double blech.

Today is my dad's birthday. He would have been 71. My brothers and my aunts were all getting together for lunch and then going to the cemetery to see his headstone, which was set this week. Personally, that was not the way I wanted to spend his birthday, so I didn't go. I knew I would just be crying and that's not what I wanted to do today --- although I have a bit anyway.

Of course, cleaning the house wasn't what I had in mind either. We were planning on going to Pioneer Days in Rockport, but alas, Jacob feels horrid. Having suffered through enough sinus headaches in my lifetime to know how horrid he feels, we ditched Plan A and went to Plan B.

This evening, we are going to watch The Apple Dumpling Game. I love Netflix. You can get so many old family movies. It's well worth the money for us.

Thursday and Friday mornings, I walked to Andi's house with Atticus, while pulling the wagon to pick up Sophie and Keegan and walk back home. That won't be happening again. 3 miles of kid loaded, wagon pulling, dog tugging, rough terrain exercise is not for me. I think we will just walk around the level, paved sidewalk at City Lake.

I have Mari's Chalupa recipe in the slow cooker right now, and it smells yummy. It's one of those things we can eat when we get ready and the fishermen dudes can eat when they get home.

Last night I went out to dinner at Logan's with a bunch of my friends and then we played games. I took a new game I bought last week at Barnes and Nobles, called Hit or Miss. It was a lot of fun. Easy to learn and one everyone enjoyed.

Well, this was a long post about nothing, so I guess I will close out this post with a Happy Birthday wish to my dad. I miss that guy. He was the best dad ever.
