Why I blog

Well, according to my long time friend, Amy, it's not for self- aggrandizement. Which I had to look up the meaning for by the way, because I had never even heard of this word.

This little award she sent my way said, “These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement . Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award!”

So let me get the formalities over with: I'm passing this award along to Teresa ,Tonya , Kate, Jaime, Angela, Desi, Marci, and Christine. This group of women are some mighty prayer warriors spread across the county. They live very different lives. But I count them all as friends I met through the internet.

Anyway, back to the original purpose of the post - why blog? I don't try to make money from blogging as some do. I don't strive to have hundreds of readers - yet I am amazed at the people who check in every day from around the world to see what's up around our humdrum little home. Which, in case you want, click the Follower button up at the right of the blog and become a known Friendly Stalker.

Again -- I think I have ADD. But back to why blog? Many reasons.

2. My kids LOVE to go back and read about themselves and the comments people made about them. This is one of their favorite spare times hobbies.

3. I don't have to try and organize countless pictures. They will find their favorites on the computer and can just put them on a disk.

4. The families of my adopted kids are able to "watch" them grow up and know that their life is good.

5. In my own way, it's our family's medical history, because I know I can come back and check who had what when and what happened to it.

6. My own extended family reads this blog and keeps up on things. I know this to be true and in case I needed confirmation, it came the other day when I wrote that Andi was laying on the bed talking to me while I sorted clothes. One of the comments was

Tell Andi to get off the bed and blog something. Love Granny Gayle

So, Granny Gayle, I forwarded your comment to her and in the meantime, I put some current pictures of Sos and Keegan on my blog for you to enjoy.

I love my family -- and don't want to forget these special times --- or even the everyday, dumb things that happen. And that folks, is why I blog. If you don't, maybe you should too. You'd be surprised at what you have forgotten when you go back and read it a few years later.
