Sometimes it nice to be right
and sometimes it's nice and cheaper. I was going to cut a piece of wood this week and the miter saw was just sorta spinning a few times and dying. I asked Billski to come look at it and he declared it dead.
Then the lectures started. If you are a woman who uses power tools, I'm sure you've probably heard it. "You can't just do this to a tool. You've got to clean them. You've got to take the compressor and blow the sawdust out of them. You've got to ............." fill in the blanks with everything you can imagine and I listened to it.
For about 2 minutes. Then I pointed out that he was going to spend probably a thousand dollars entering fishing tourneys this summer and if I needed to go buy a new saw I was going to do it.
And he was silent. So I bought my new saw yesterday. A nice laser guided miter saw. A thing of beauty, really. Very exciting stuff. Bill assembled it for me today and turned it on. Nothing. He mumbled a bit of something and proceeded to check the breaker box. Then he flipped the switch and lo and behold it worked.
Just like my old one did when I tried it. So I'm returning the new saw and using the money for lumber to build me a cabinet for my TV room.
It's good to be married to a master electrician.
