The Christmas Day Recap
A wonderful time was had by all. That pretty well sums it up, but since this blog is our family "scrapbook", I'll add some details.
All of the kids loved their gifts. Everyone, except Zac, got season passes for next year to Holiday World. Holiday World is a major amusement and water park which is just about 20 miles from us. Wesley has conquered some of his fears about rides and water parks so I think everyone will enjoy this gift. An added bonus is that several of their friends also got these passes (do we moms know how to cahoot or what?), so there will be lots of fun next summer.
The kids also got a repeat of last years Choice Certificates and they were very excited about those. I did add going to a pottery studio on the list and I think I'll be making several trips to do that this year.
Carly got a weaving loom, the boys all got wooden model things and the younger kids got several games, as well as new pajamas.
Big Guy got a holster for his off-duty pistol he carries, Zac got a lot of clothes and a Dreamcast system and Andi got a really cool cake pan which I'm betting she tries out tomorrow.
Bill bought me a new purse and billfold, a new coat, a digital picture frame keychain, a wonderful new pot to replace my most favorite one which was totally worn out. And a heated massaging cushion. This sucker will massage (beat you) up and down your back. I loved the lower back but the middle back felt like torture. But after it was done, I felt good.
Billski got a bunch of clothes, a new robe and a flag case which I had put the flag from his dad's funeral in for him.
Andi & Big Guy got us "The Love Dare" books to do and we are going to be starting those. I'm very excited about that.
Since it seems "it's always something" around here, today was Keegan's day. At the beginning of the gift opening, Carly asked, "What's that rash on Keegan's neck?" No idea. But over the next two hours he broke out head to toe with what appeared to be the measles. He had his MMR shot this week, so I'm guessing that was his reaction. He slept through most of the gift giving, while Sophie helped everyone with the gift opening. Within a few hours, Keegan's rash had mostly disappeared.
Bill made a delicious lunch including homemade rolls and homemade noodles, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries and corn on the cob. Everyone was so full we never did get around to eating dessert - just snacked on some fudge and candy that seemed to appear from everywhere.
All of the big kids left by about 3:30 to go to other family gatherings and the little kids started in wanting to watch Star Wars. Even knowing we were not going to get it done in one day if we started today. But they insisted.
I've now sat through the first two Star Wars movies and about an hour of the third one before I started hearing snoring all around me and sent everyone to bed.
Which is where I'm now headed too.
