Up, Up and Away --- or not.
My friend, Megan, had arranged for a trip to our local airport (a grass strip in the middle of a large field) and we went out for a lesson on flying today. The kids were so surprised because they had no idea we were going and when they saw the airplanes out they wanted to stop and look at them.
You can imagine their surprise when I told them they could even take a turn flying. They learned about charts and about the different parts of a plane and then those that wanted to ride, went up. After their flight, we took a tour of the hangars and saw all of the other planes. It was really interesting.
Carly and Jacob both chose to go flying, while Ryan hemmed and hawed till he finally voted no. Even when the man offered to just taxi around the field, Ryan wouldn't budge from his "no" position.
Of course, Wes-Man, didn't go up, however, he had the most fun on the ground as any kid ever did. He was quite jubilant as he exited his imaginary flight.
