Another Unexpected Surprise
I went to the doctor with my dad yesterday and my older brother showed up. He came over to me and had tears in his eyes as he asked to talk to me. I've not had any family contact with this brother in 16 months over the way he treated some of my kids - no need to stretch too far into your imagination to guess which ones. As I've said, DNA doesn't make you family.
Anyway, he apologized profusely, went on and on about how much he missed all of us and asked for forgiveness. He told me he had prayed for an hour yesterday morning, asking God to open my heart toward his apology. He said he had heard I made up with my mom, so he was hoping I was still in the forgiving mood and would include him. Luckily for both of us, I was. He promptly invited Wesley to spend the night and Wes was thrilled when I told him later. I would say waiting on the front porch for two hours counts as thrilled.
I've missed David being around. For as long as I can remember, he has been around on every holiday and special occasions. He was always someone who I knew I could count on. It was sad not having him here, but it was the right decision to protect the feelings of my kids.
When I told Jacob, he was as happy as he could be. He and Uncle Dave had a special relationship that had to be put on hold 16 months ago and I know they have missed each other.
Maybe now everyone will just be able to get along with each other and my kids will feel like the special blessings they are. I certainly hope so. I don't have any other family members I've been estranged from, so no more posts about reconciliations :)
