"Braveheart"

Bill and I took the kids to Holiday World yesterday after church. Toyota rents out the entire park and so lines that might normally be an hour long were about 5 minutes long at the most. For several weeks we had been praying for Wesley to have courage and be brave and enjoy himself. Wesley has never even ridden a ride outside of a Wal Mart store because they scare him, so this was no minor prayer request.

Right inside the park entrance is the Raven. Holiday World's website says "Brave the rails of The Raven wooden roller coaster! It'll hurl you over a lake, swoop between trees and careen down a hillside—all at speeds of sixty miles per hour!
This seemed as good a place as any to see how strong a child's prayer can be. Wes and I walked right up to it and climbed in the seat. I prayed with him after assuring him we were buckled in. If a child's heart could have beaten any faster, I don't know how. Wes clung to me at first but then, just like that, Wesley overcame his fear and rode the #5 Wooden Roller Coaster in the World. Hands up and all!

From that point on he rode just about everything. In the past he would not even ride the Antique Cars and yesterday he was even willing to ride the Liberty Launch, an 8 story blast off ride.

Ryan was not, however, and they stopped the ride for his early departure.
Everyone rode the Revolution, where the G-Force pins you against the walls as you tilt into space. Everyone but me anyway. Someone had to make the sacrifice to just be willing to drink lemonade and take a picture or two.

Jacob and Carly rode every ride in the park that wasn't a kiddie ride. They were totally fearless and loved all the roller coasters. Jacob said his favorite ride though was the Raging Rapids, because I got totally soaked.

One of the last rides of the day was the water bumper cars. Wes didn't want to drive them but Ryan did. Wanting to and doing it were two different things and he wouldn't listen to the instructions and just kept going in one big circle.

So while everyone else was bumping away, Ryan was just spinning aimlessly in circles. He finally spun close enough to the edge that a Holiday World employee was able to jump on the back of his boat and steer him around a bit.
Everyone had a great time and we were all so proud of Wes-man.
