Progress?

Well, I would like to say the bathroom is nearly finished - OK, I think I will say it. "The bathroom is nearly finished" she lied to her blog.

The bathroom project suffered a full day - and when I say full day - I mean 8 am - 10:15 pm (over 14 hours later) setback of plumbing leaks.

Now mind you, not the new plumbing that was installed for the bathroom, but when the water was turned back on, leaks, drips and in a couple of cases, outright trickles occurred in several other places. Places that couldn't be ignored - or wait till Bill got home to fix. Places that required a man under the house, in the cold, wet mud at 9:30 that evening.

The shower in the kids' bathroom had to be totally replumbed and the fixtures replaced. That was fun for them to do - backwards - through the wall in my bathroom. Of course to get to it, they had to cut and remove all the plumbing that had just been installed. However, had the shower wall been up already in my bathroom, then something would have had to be torn down to get to it - either the newly tiled wall in my bathroom or the tub removed in theirs - so the timing was great, as far as leaks go. I had to keep repeating that to myself all day.

So both my contractor, Eric, and a plumber friend (who shall remain nameless) we called in for the really tricky leak in the main shut off valve to the house spent their Valentine's Day with me. Since Bill was in Florida, I was planning on spending Valentine's Day with the kids and instead I got to spend it with 2 husbands -- just not mine.....and their wives spent it without their husbands instead.

Neither man would take a dime in payment - although the aforementioned nameless professional plumber man extracted a promise from me to NEVER tell anyone that he did this for a living. Since they wouldn't let me pay them, I got them gift cards from Lowes - and to Longhorn Steakhouse so that they could take their wives out for a great belated celebration starting with the Wild West Shrimp appetizer and ending with a great dessert. I even offered to babysit for them while they did it.

Hopefully today is THE day that leaps and bounds are made toward the completion of the bathroom. I can envision it though - and it's going to be great!
