Update on Ryan

We had court yesterday for Ryan. He is still in a residential facility in Indianapolis.  He was supposed to be discharged in November, but that is not gonna be happening.  He has 5 steps to work through regarding his actions which landed him there in the first place.  After 10 months there, he is on Step 2.  Not much progress.

Once he is dismissed, the plan is for him to go live with a biological relative, who wants to adopt him. This is not a good idea for so many reasons. The woman is in her 70s, in ill health and has voiced concerns (they were in the monthly report I get)  about what he will do to her if she tells him no about anything.  I have those same concerns among many others, which I have written about  to two case workers and 2 CASA workers.  Not a single one of them has bothered to ask me for any details regarding my concern.

More than once he raised his fist to hit me, and I'm certain the only thing that stopped him from hitting me was knowing Bill and Jacob and Big Guy would be around.  She has nobody around to stop him from hitting her.

Ryan has Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder and Reactive Attachment Disorder. Any one of those would make him hard to live with.  Two makes it dang near impossible and all three can pretty much be lethal, given the right circumstances.

I have accepted that I have been found guilty in the eyes of DCS of  Child Neglect, Lack of Supervision and Child Abandonment, since I refuse to allow Ryan to come back here. But he just can't.

Ryan's new CASA worker has made a recommendation to the court to expedite termination of our parental rights.  So I am on my way to having one less child.  It is certainly not the plan I had for Ryan when I adopted him, but in order to keep my family safe, it is what has to be done.
