Powerless to change things

But if I could I would change the fact that we have had no power for about 9 hours now. There are close to 130,000 homes without power around here after the aftermath of Ike rolled through today. Trees are down everywhere, including through many homes. We are very fortunate that our home was spared any damage. I'm thankful we had the chimney torn down because no doubt it would have fallen today in the high winds. The utility company has said it could be several days until power is restored. I hope they are wrong.

Andi has power so it's not as if we are stranded alone in the dark. The kids got ready for bed and then we came over to spend the evening hours until bedtime. I'll then take them home and lead them to bed by candlelight. Hopefully I'll be woke up in the middle of the night by the TV blaring.
