From Elvis to the Serenity Unit
The day started off great for dad. He ate and did his therapy. Afterwards, I trimmed his beard and mustache and then we heard Elvis out in the dining room. I flippantly asked if he wanted to go dance and he said yes.
And dance he did. Quite surprising since he couldn't figure out how to stand or walk yesterday. Today, he stood on his own for 6 dances. He danced with some nurses, his therapist, Andi and Sophie. He was smiling and having a great time. He rode Sophie around in his wheelchair.
Andi and I left and the day went downhill from there until tonight as I was driving to church, I got a call that they wanted to admit him again to the Serenity Unit. I drove to church, dropped off my stuff for class and went to pack his stuff and meet the ambulance.
Everyone seems to feel that his medicines need adjusting. It would be nice to not have a Jekyll and Hyde dad, but I don't know if it's the medicine or just his dementia. Either way, he's back in the hospital for the time being.
