Valedictorian

On May 5, 2011, Sophie took her lollipop test to see if she could attend kindergarten, because she was too young to automatically be able to enroll. She got 66 out of 69 questions correct. Another part of the test was identifying 8 letters in one minute and Sophie got 47.  It was clear she was ready to go.

She was so excited to be able to go to school because she just loved learning. Years later, she burst into tears when she found out she was going to be in the Excel program.  The thought of all the extra schoolwork made her giddy with joy. I’m telling you, she’s just like her momma - always wanting to learn more.

Now, she has just a few days left of high school before she heads off to college in the fall. It’s clear she is ready to go.

Before she leaves, the last thing she will do as a student at BHS will be give a speech as one of her class valedictorians.

Pass the Kleenex, please.
