A tradition continued - that I wish wasn't

When I was 9 years old, my family moved to a new house.  I remember as if it were yesterday, our first breakfast in the house.  White powdered donuts and chocolate milk, eaten on the floor.  From that time on, every time I moved into a new place, that would be my first breakfast.  Every single time.  And I moved alot.  When Andi and Big Guy moved into their home, I took over the traditional breakfast and this weekend, I took it again.  Only this time, only Andi and the kids were there.
Andi and Big Guy have filed for divorce and I am heartbroken. I have loved Big Guy since he was barely in his teens.  It's hard to imagine him not being at family gatherings.  We got him and Wesley the same month back in 1999.  Although I knew about this months ago, it still is shocking on some level every time I think about it.  I can honestly say I would never have imagined this happening.  They are both coping and getting along well.  Trying to be a family, even though they live in different houses.  Sophie and Keegan seem to be doing OK. They have been seeing a counselor to help them deal with any issues they may have come up.

So Andi now lives just about 3 blocks away from me, in a nice, 3 bedroom house with a big yard.  The kids can walk to school or to the park.  It's about a block or 2 either way. We have spent the weekend cleaning and painting and I'll take some pictures when she gets all settled.  The pinata' is a housewarming gift from Jacob and once everything is situated and they are officially moved in, the kids get to bust it open.

My heart hurts for those precious babies, but they are loved by a LOT of people -- and that's not gonna change no matter what their living situation is.
