Letter from Carly
I get all of my blog published into a hard back book for each year, so I try to make sure I have important things that I want to keep forever blogged in some way. When I got home today, I had this story on my desk. The dedication read - To my mom. Who helped me when I need help. The one who saved me when I felt on one else could.
My hero isn't one of those famous people that teenagers are drooling about. My hero doesn't have the ability to fly or shoot lasers out of their eyes. My hero isn't a knight in shining armor. My hero isn't a man with a cape wearing tights.
My hero is the most loving and caring person you could ever meet. My hero can look back on their mistakes and laugh. My hero is my best friend. Can you guess who it is yet?
My hero is my mom. She is my very best friend and my hero. She is always there for me when I need her. Mom picks me up when I fall. She saved me when I felt like no one could.
She can make me laugh on days when I feel like crying. She has taught me everything I know. Without her in my life, well, I have no clue at all what I'd do with her.
I know I can tell her anything and know that she wouldn't go and tell someone else. I love that she's not afraid to go around and sing Barry Manilow all around our house when we have all the windows open.
I love that she'll act like a complete dork just because she wants to. I love absolutely everything about her. Yes, there are times where we don't see eye to eye on everything, but that doesn't bother me.
So she might not have a cape or wear tights. She might not have the ability to shoot lasers out of her eyes. That's okay though because not every hero has powers. She has a power though. She has the power to be an amazing mom and teacher.
I love you mom with all my heart. You will always be my hero.
Love,
Carly Beth
