Compartment Syndrome surgery
Got a call yesterday morning that I was being added on at the end of the day for my surgery. That was welcome news as I knew if that didn't happen, I was looking at a 3 day weekend in extreme pain. The surgery was quick and as they put me to sleep, I tried to not think about what was about to happen - only on how it was going to feel afterwards.
My entire foot had been numb for the last two days, so it was obvious the swelling was continuing in my leg, compressing my nerves. That was the first thing I noticed on waking up. I could feel my toes. Sweet relief right there.
I was home just a couple of hours after surgery. I have quite a bit of swelling on the outside of my leg, but after weeks of taking pain pills, I have not taken one since leaving the hospital. Not even an aspirin. Amazing.
It does hurt a bit, but compared to how it felt before, it feels like a mosquito bite. I am one thankful woman today.
