Carly had a birthday

Friday and turned 11. She and I went out for a bit together for lunch and to get her hair cut. We didn't do alot since it's hard to get around on crutches and her foot still hurt to just walk on it. She made her own birthday cake - her first ever with absolutely no help. I don't know if t was good, but I'm guessing yes, since it didn't make it through the day.

While she has been laid up with her foot elevated, it has come to my attention just how much she does around here. Especially with the babies. She is a huge help to me. She will be a great momma someday.

Keegan thinks Carly is the best. She ranks up there among his most favorite people in the whole world. He has been sick with the flu for almost a week and so her being laid up worked out great for him because he wanted nothing more than to snuggle with his buddy.

Her birthday present was a huge footlocker trunk to lock away all her treasures in. The first thing she locked away..... was the key to the lock.

Carly is growing taller by the day it seems like. I'm thinking by next year, she will be taller than me. She loves to read and will sit curled up for hours reading all kinds of books. She is getting to the point that she loves to shop. Which is good because when we tried on all her winter clothes from last year the other day, I can see we are going to be doing some this week.

I would like to just take her to the "specialists" who wrote such dire predictions for her future when she was 3 years old just to show them how wrong they can be with their tests.

Carly wants to be an author when she grows up and she spends time every day writing about her life. She also wants to be a missionary. She does great at school and loves to learn new things.

Carly was Pappaw's girl. They could spend hours sitting side by side as he told her stories from his childhood and she soaked them up like rays of sunshine. I know he would be proud of the young lady she is turning into. Just as I am.

God certainly blessed me when he chose me to be Carly's mom. Every day, I am truly grateful for that blessing.
