School testing results
The principal of the school called today and we sat down for a meeting to discuss the results of the tests the kids took last week. After introducing himself, his first question was, "How long have you been homeschooling these children?"
I told him they had never been to public school. Then he wanted to know how long they had lived with us. I gave him that information. I think I was beginning to squirm in my chair as he asked his next question.
"What did they know when they came to live with you?" I gave him a brief run down on Carly and Ryan. He then wanted to know if any of them were biologically related. By now I'm sure I was scratching my arms and neck and feeling hives start to break out.
He sat across the desk from me, their test papers under his fingers as he methodically strummed them and kept up his steady stream of questions.
"Were any of them exposed to drugs and alcohol before birth?" I gave him that information.
If I had been on camera, I'm sure I was looking like a scratching wiggle worm, before he finally said, "You can relax. Really. You've done a great job. They tested great."
Relief streamed through my body. Although I felt sure about 95% of the time that they were doing well, it still entered my mind occasionally that maybe I was missing something.
All of the kids tested at or above their grade level. I was afraid they might freeze up since they have never taken a test like that in their lives. Their books will be in by the end of the week and we will get started Monday.
The Comfy Couch Academy students are doing A-OK.
