Hot Air Balloon Festival - Decatur, Alabama

Bill and I took Wesley, Ryan, Carly, Sophie and Keegan to Alabama over Memorial Day to a Hot Air Balloon Festival.  Our friends, Mark & Kelli, had been several times before and went along with us.  The kids love them and  we all had a lot of fun in the smothering heat. Jacob had to work - such is the life of a teenager in his first job.  He stayed with Andi and Big Guy though and they had a blast hanging out all weekend.

Everyone got a ride in a balloon and Kelli and I even worked on a balloon crew the second night after meeting and  hanging out with the crew at the hotel pool during the day.  That was certainly not in the plans for the weekend, but it was a great experience to see up close how these things come together.

Final Surgery -- hopefully

Yesterday I had what I hope is my final surgery from the canoe accident.  I had the hardware removed from my collar bone.  Knowing that it broke the day after they removed it the first time, I was a bit leery of having this done.  But done it is and I'm wearing a sling for a few weeks and doing no lifting while the holes in the bones fill in.   I think it looks fantastic -- especially when I consider this is the fourth surgery in the same place.
